Project Objective
The project will improve self-advocacy, public policy advocacy and leadership of 100 individuals with disabilities and their family members and other interested community members. The leadership development and advocacy training project will offer four training sessions (twice per year) on history & philosophy, inclusive education, employment & independence, alternatives to guardianship, person centered thinking and how to advocate at various levels. Improving self-determination and self-advocacy skills will be the primary focus of each training area. Each presenter provides a half to full day of training, as well as resources, so that personal contacts to advocate on a particular issues through specific policy makers can be made.

Increase the access that individuals with developmental disabilities and families of individuals with developmental disabilities have to information, training, and support to advocate for themselves and/or to collaborate with allies to impact public policy, service systems, and community supports.
