TxDOT Seeks Feedback About Transportation in Rural Areas

Texas Transportation Listening Sessions

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking public feedback to improve transportation for people with disabilities and older adults in rural areas. You can provide your input at a regional listening session, in a survey, or by phone.

In December and January, TxDOT will gather feedback from stakeholders from around the state regarding how to improve transportation for people with disabilities and older adults in rural areas. The feedback provided will inform how TxDOT distributes funds to public transportation providers through the 5310 Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program. Stakeholders could include transit users, organizations that serve people with disabilities and older adults, nonprofit agencies, etc.

How to Submit Feedback

There are various ways you can submit your feedback about transportation in rural areas to TxDOT.

  • Listening Sessions: TxDOT will host regional listening sessions throughout Texas and you can provide your feedback at the listening session closest to you. Also, all listening sessions will be available as live conference calls and webinars, so you can listen in, view the presentations, and participate remotely. During the listening sessions, participants will also learn about transportation options available from local providers. After the presentations, participants will help identify and prioritize issues and needs facing the transportation program. More information about the listening sessions can be found below.
  • Online Survey: A survey is available for you to provide your feedback online. The survey is short and is available in both English and Spanish. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, January 18, 2019.
  • Phone: You can provide your feedback via phone by calling (512) 360-0668. The deadline to provide your feedback by phone is Friday, January 18, 2019.

Listening Sessions

In December, TxDOT will host multiple listening sessions in Central, East, and North Texas. Also, one listening session will be held in Laredo during this timeframe. In January, listening sessions will be held South and West Texas. Information about the January listening sessions will be available in mid-December.

Below is the information for the December listening sessions. Residents from the counties listed for each location can participate in-person or remotely. If you would like to participate in-person, see which listening session is closest to you by checking out this map.
